Strict Action to Be Taken Against Non-Compliant Schools After 3-Month Deadline
In a firm directive aimed at raising educational standards, Rafia Javed, Additional Director of Registration at the Directorate of Inspection & Registration of Private Institutions Sindh, has issued a circular mandating private schools to urgently improve their libraries and science laboratories.
The circular (No. DIR/PIS/EDU/GOS/1281-857/2025) follows alarming findings by inspection committees, which reported that many private schools have inadequate or poorly equipped library and laboratory facilities—existing in name only. Schools were found to be allocating small spaces with minimal books or lab equipment, far below acceptable standards.
Rafia Javed emphasized that all schools must designate proper, well-equipped rooms for libraries, including course books, fiction, dictionaries, and student-friendly resources. She also stressed the importance of creating comfortable reading environments and granting students free and open access to books.
In addition, she directed that science laboratories must be adequately sized and fully equipped with apparatus, chemicals, and other materials for practical learning in subjects like physics, chemistry, and biology.
Schools have been given a three-month window to make these changes. Post-deadline, inspection teams will revisit institutions, and non-compliance will result in substantial fines under Section 11 of the Sindh Private Educational Institutions (Regulation and Control) Ordinance 2001.
